Reconnect a Bank Account in QBO

QBO occasionally requires the bank connection to be reconfirmed in order to keep the bank feed active. When this happens, you will need to re-enter your online banking information to reconnect.

Please note that any RBC accounts with Two-Factor-Authentication (2FA) enabled are experiencing issues maintaining a continuous connection to QBO at the moment, requiring the accounts to be reconnected on a weekly basis. Unfortunately there is nothing we can do about this as it is a QBO/RBC issue. If you don't want to reconnect every week, the only option currently available is to setup an ultra-secure password (12 - 16 digit random alphanumeric password - recommend using a password manager to keep track of it) and to disable 2FA on your RBC account. We also recommend submitting Feedback to QBO (In QBO > Gear Icon [top-right] > Feedback) about the issue with the connection to RBC constantly disconnecting when 2FA is enabled on your RBC account.

To Reconnect your Bank Account:

  1. Navigate to Transactions > Banking
  2. If a bank account needs to be reconnected, you will usually see a notification like this on the account(s) that need to be reconnected.

  3. You can reconnect using the "Complete Secure Connection" button, or by clicking the little pencil icon and the "Edit Sign-In Info"

  4. Enter your online banking details and the connection will automatically pull in any missing transactions from the bank feed (*see below for steps to reconnect RBC with 2FA enabled).

Reconnecting an RBC account with 2FA enabled

RBC's 2FA requires you to authorize the login attempt through your trusted device. However, this method is not compatible with QBO's interface and it is frustrating to try and get the connection to work with 2FA enabled.

In order to reconnect an RBC account with 2FA enabled, the steps are the same but you will need to temporarily disable 2FA.

  1. On your mobile device (or trusted device): Login to the RBC app and navigate to your Settings.
  2. In Settings, select "2-Step Verification", then disable the setting
  3. Follow the steps above to reconnect the bank in QBO
  4. Turn "2-Step Verification" back on in the RBC app on your trusted device.

If you prefer to keep 2FA enabled for your account, Agile BK will periodically ask you to refresh the bank feed manually so that we can continue to keep your accounts up-to-date and reconciled.
