Add Contacts in Plooto

Plooto connects to your bank account and makes it easy to pay vendor bills. To make a payment, the vendor payment information has to be created in Plooto. Vendors are regarded as “Contacts” in Plooto.

Contacts can be created ahead of time, or while you are making the payment.

Adding a new contact:

  1. Sign in to Plooto through the following link: https://www.plooto.com/
  2. Press on  “Contacts” on the top.

  1. Select “Add contacts” from the top right corner.

  1. Select “Add single contact”.

  1. Select “Add a vendor”

  1. You can either search in Plooto Payee Network OR press on “Click here to add this contact instead” (Recommended).

  1. Fill in the information in the following page. You can select:
    1. Email money transfer: you will only need to enter their email address.
    2. Enter banking details: you will need to have their account number, transit number and institution number.

TIP: Request either a VOID cheque or PAD (Pre-Authorized Debit) Form from your vendor as both of these options contain the relevant banking information.

IMPORTANT! Plooto’s email money transfer is not the same as Interac e-transfer. Plooto uses the same EFT banking protocol as the “Enter Banking Details” Option.  However, the process is similar in Plooto, where the vendor will receive an email and answer a security question.  Once the security question check is passed, the vendor will be prompted to enter their bank details to receive the payment.

TIP: A good security question is to ask the vendor to enter their 9-digit GST/HST number.  Almost all invoices have the number listed, so you have easy access to it, and it is a relatively secure question as it is unlikely an external party would have easy access to this information.

  1. Once the necessary information has been added, select “Save”.
